DWN is
volunteer-run and currently fundraising for an ebook project and the use of
digital media to enhance the Network and give writers across Dorset a more
visible and audible voice. Roving Press supports this initiative in bringing writers and readers together.

Dorset's Digital Stories
DWN is going digital to
make sure we reach people of all ages in creative communities across our rural
county. Between summer 2014 and 2015 we will be publishing an
e-book involving Dorset residents aged 11–70+; posting podcasts of
competition-winning stories and sharing writing related information through
regular blog posts. By developing social media we will engage existing and new
writers to a broader range of events and activities including one-to-one
writers' surgeries and master-class webinars.
With a strong record of supporting writers at every
stage in their work, from beginners to published writers, DWN is in an
ideal position to continue this work. We have received excellent feedback on
previous events including training, creative workshops and the dissemination of
writing opportunities locally, regionally and nationally.
Coordinators Sue
Ashby and Patricia Yonwin and the five members of our Steering Committee, including Gail Aldwin, are
committed to the development of Dorset Writers’ Network and work largely in a
voluntary capacity. Our very successful Dorset Community
Foundation-funded project this year has been Pen Pals, a reminiscence project
with dementia and Alzheimer sufferers and their carers in Purbeck.
To fund our exciting new project,
we have raised £12,500 (85% of our target). Another
£1,000 will secure the extra we need for providing an online Writers'
Resource for both individual writers and writing groups to
use.
If you are able to consider partnering us in this and would
like to make a financial contribution, however small, we will list you as a
donor and promote your latest publication and/or arts project on our website.
Please make your cheque to Dorset Writers’ Network and send to Patrician Yonwin (Treasurer), 8 The Orchard, Winfrith Newburgh,
